ประสิทธิภาพ คือ ความสามารถในการทำงานให้เกิดผลสำเร็จ โดยใช้ทรัพยากรต่าง ๆ เช่น ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ แรงงาน เงินทุน และวิธีการดำเนินการหรือประกอบการ ที่มีคุณภาพสูงสุดในการดำเนินการได้อย่างเต็มศักยภาพ ประสิทธิภาพสามารถวัดได้จากตัวบ่งชี้ต่าง ๆ เช่น ความประหยัด คุ้มค่า ความทันเวลา และมีคุณภาพ

ประสิทธิภาพมักจะเกี่ยวข้องกับการผลิตหรือการทำสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่งให้ได้ผลลัพธ์ออกมามากที่สุด โดยใช้ต้นทุนหรือทรัพยากรน้อยที่สุด เป็นการทำอย่างถูกวิธี (Do things right) แต่ไม่ได้หมายความว่าเป็นสิ่งที่ถูกต้อง (Do the right things) เพื่อให้เกิดประสิทธิผล (Effectiveness) ที่เป็นผลลัพธ์หรือผลสำเร็จที่เกิดขึ้นจากกระบวนการทำงาน
